The Best Beers I Had Last Week (April 28 – May 5, 2025)

Over the weekend, I spent some time at Raíces Brewing Company and Strange Craft Beer Company, two great breweries located near Empower Field at Mile High. Strange has always been one of my favorite breweries in Denver for its creative beers and laid back vibe, but I had never been to Raíces. I love Raíces’ cultural emphasis, bright indoor space and outdoor seating options, with views of the South Platte River. Here’s what I enjoyed:

Raíces Brewing's Ilusión Kellerpils

Ilusión

Raíces Brewing Company
Bohemian Style Kellerpils/Pilsner, 5.1% ABV

A really solid lager that was crisp, refreshing and perfect for starting the afternoon. You could definitely order this on repeat.

Raíces Brewing's Valle del Sol Golden Ale

Valle del Sol

Raíces Brewing Company
Golden Ale, 4.5% ABV

This is a very drinkable Golden Ale that was well balanced with notes of toast and honey.

Strange Craft Beer Company's Strange Pale Ale

Strange Pale Ale

Strange Craft Beer Company
American Pale Ale, 4.6% ABV

They use a blend of Simcoe, Amarillo, and Cascade for a classic American hop profile that tastes much bigger than the ABV suggests. This is a beer I could drink again and again and again. Just what I want in an American Pale Ale – hop forward, but not overwhelmingly bitter with a nice honey sweetness from the malt.
