The Best Beers I Had in October 2025

October was full of great beers, many of which I tried at Great American Beer Festival, which you can read about in my 2025 recap. My favorite sips at GABF included a lavender Summer Ale from Breakside Brewery and a bunch of Fresh Hop IPAs. I’ve decided to exclude those from the list below and focus instead on the best beers I tried outside of the festival. Full pours only.

Superdamp Fresh Hop IPA from Comrade Brewing

Superdamp

Comrade Brewing
Fresh Hop American IPA, 6.9% ABV

I feature a lot of Comrade beers in these posts, not just because I go there often (it’s the closest brewery to my house), but because they genuinely create some of the best beers in the Denver metro area. Their specialty is IPAs, and this is a supercharged version of their flagship Superpower IPA. This year’s batch was fresh hopped with Strata, giving off notes of white peach and grape that intermingle with the prominent pine and citrus flavors of the base beer.

Two Turn West Coast Lager from Comrade Brewing

Two Turn Lager

Comrade Brewing
West Coast Lager, 5.5% ABV

This crisp lager is hopped with Nectaron, Mosaic, Alora and Strata and is fermented cold with a generous dry hop. It’s refreshing and clean like a lager, but the hop combo offers a complex blend of blackberry, grapefruit and passionfruit.

Bligh's Barleywine from Dry Dock Brewing

Bligh’s Barleywine Ale

Dry Dock Brewing Company
Barleywine Ale, 13% ABV

I stopped by Dry Dock to celebrate their 20th anniversary and to try the most recent batch of Bligh’s. This big beer has a strong caramel backbone supporting oak and whiskey flavors with hints of dark fruit. The aroma and flavor start to blend pretty quickly as you drink it, developing notes of toffee and coconut. I don’t drink a ton of Barleywine, but this is one of my favorites.
