The Best Beers I Had in February 2026

In February, all five of my favorite beers were from Colorado, and I tried four of the five in the brewery taprooms, which is always fun. Cohesion, Copper Kettle and Outer Range are a few of my favorite breweries in the state, and I was excited to finally stop by WestFax for the first time. This is a reminder to support your local breweries by actually visiting them! The community built in those spaces is one of the best things about craft beer.

New Terrain Blaster American Pale Ale

Blaster

New Terrain Brewing Co.
American Pale Ale, 6.2% ABV

This is a great American pale ale that bursts with grapefruit and tangerine thanks to the inclusion of Citra, Idaho 7, Amarillo and Azacca hops. Good bitterness that leads to a crisp finish.

Cohesion Vanocni Czech winter lager

Vánoční

Cohesion Brewing Co.
Czech Winter Lager, 6.5% ABV

Like everything Cohesion makes, this amber Czech lager is delicious. It’s rich and malty, but still smooth and refreshing. The maltiness is reminiscent of toasted bread, caramel and toffee, and there are subtle floral notes from the hops.

Outer Range Wilderness Skills Schwarzbier

Wilderness Skills

Outer Range Brewing Co.
Schwarzbier, 4.8% ABV

I love drinking Schwarzbier in the winter. It’s roasty and rich in flavor, yet still incredibly light-bodied. While Outer Range is best known for their IPAs, I’ve never had a bad beer there. This beer has all the coffee character I expect from a Schwarzbier and was a great example of the style.

Copper Kettle Snowed In Mocha Imperial Oatmeal Stout

Snowed In Mocha

Copper Kettle Brewing Co.
Imperial Oatmeal Stout, 12.3% ABV

Copper Kettle is one of the closest breweries to my house and they also allow dogs inside, so it tends to be my family’s go-to. Every year, the Snowed In releases are must-try beers. They typically release five or so flavors, but the mocha one tends to be my favorite. The mocha flavor perfectly complements the chocolate and coffee flavors in the base beer and balances them with the noticeable alcohol. It’s warming and delicious.

Westfax Western Lumberjack West Coast IPA

Western Lumberjack

WestFax Brewing Co.
West Coast IPA, 6.8% ABV

I was really impressed with this beer. It’s a bold, pine-forward West Coast IPA. It has tons of resinous hop character with bright citrus to lift it up. A nice crisp finish.
