Beer Tastings

Explore different styles, stories and flavors

From Mesopotamia to Modernity

This tasting charts the course of beer from its humble beginnings in Mesopotamia to the rise of craft brewing in America. We taste a variety of beers that exemplify key moments in beer’s history, like Märzen, American IPA, English Porter and Belgian Dubbel.

The Rise of Craft Beer in America

Learn about beer’s rise, fall and resurrection in America. We cover the history of beer and its legislation in America while we taste some of the hallmarks of American beer, including American Pale Ale, American IPA and American Light Lager.

The evolution of the IpA

Follow the path from India Pale Ale’s inception in England to its explosive rise in the United States. Get ready to taste a variety of pale ales that tell the story of the IPA and reveal its versatility and how brewers continue to innovate.

Ales of Britain and Ireland

This tasting features ales from England, Ireland and Scotland and showcases their origins and key differences. You’ll learn how Porter got its name and why Scottish beers aren’t too hoppy. Many of the most popular beers in American craft brewing are directly linked to British beers.

From Farm to Monastery: Beers of Belgium

Belgium is home to some of the oldest brewing traditions in the world, featuring farmhouse Saisons and Witbiers brewed by commoners, as well as Trappist Dubbels and Tripels brewed by monks. This tasting reveals the breadth of flavors and aromas present in Belgian beers, from sweet and peppery to sour and citrusy.

Reinheitsgebot: Beers of Germany

Reinheitsgebot is the German Beer Purity Law that dates all the way back to 1516. It’s the reason that German beers as we know them are crisp, clean and have flavors that clearly showcase the key ingredients in beer – barley, hops, water and yeast (though they didn’t know about yeast back then).

Weird and Wonderful

If you’re looking for something different, this is the tasting for you. You’ll learn about lesser-known beer styles, like Rauchbier, Oud Bruin and Barleywine. You’ll leave this tasting with a better understanding of the range of flavors that exists in the world of beer.
