The Best Beers I Had in May 2026

Early in the month, I celebrated my birthday at Oakwell Beer Spa. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend it. An excellent place to unwind and enjoy great craft beer (plus wine, cider and NA options). Some other highlights were discovered at Odell’s Five Points Brewhouse and The Post on Broadway.

Funkwerks Saison

Funkwerks
Saison, 6.8% ABV

I was devastated when I learned Funkwerks was closing their taproom this year. I stopped there any time I was in Fort Collins. Their beer has always appealed to me, so I was relieved to find out they’d still be brewing and selling some of their flagships through Wilding Brands, a Colorado-based family of craft beverage brands. Their Saison has always been my favorite – an effervescent, refreshing brew with notes of passion fruit, tangerine, lemon verbena, ginger and black pepper. I knew immediately which beer I was going to pick when I saw it on tap at the Beer Spa.

Odell Brewing Convertible Cargo Pants IPA

Convertible Cargo Pants

Odell Brewing
American IPA, 6.2% ABV

This beer is a collaboration with my consistent IPA favorite, Comrade Brewing, so I had to try it. As expected, it was fantastic. A blend of Cryo Krush, Thora and experimental New Zealand hops gives it a clean bitterness and complex flavor that explodes with mango, guava, mixed berry and passionfruit.

Sunny Lady Arnold Palmer-inspired ale from The Post

Sunny Lady

The Post
Arnold Palmer-Inspired Ale, 5.8% ABV

This beer is brewed with green tea, lemon puree and Colorado wildflower honey to give it a blend of flavors reminiscent of an Arnold Palmer. This is a great beer for the summer.
